Lakes, Hills & the wrong campsite
Headed to the Lake district for a boys weekend with my buddy Mark. We set off Friday teatime (rush hour) for the long drive to Keswick. We finally arrived at 9pm and started searching for the campsite. Unfortunately we realised we were on the wrong road (I use the term 'road' loosly) but there was no turning back. Luckily at the end of the road was another campsite, so we pitched there and headed to the pub for a well earned pint or three.
Next day we drove round Derwentwater stopping off where ever we could so I could take some shots (Mark isnt a photographer so he just bimbles around until I'm done - which is really nice of him :) ). Luckily we stumbled across a jetty (one for my photography bucket list) so big stopper and tripod out. I took what is probably my favourite shot I've ever done (the one below) so I was a very happy bunny. We arrived in Keswick got some food and then headed back to the pub!
After the pub we got back to the campsite, which was in a very dark valley and we were treated to an amazing night sky so the camera and tripod were back out. Even got treated to shooting stars (from the meteor shower the week before I assume) Unfortunatley I dont really have the right lens for milky way shots, but I gave it a go anyway (its all good practice) and the shots didnt turn out too bad.
The last day was grey and the roads and towns were very busy so we ended up just heading home. It was a really great weekend in a stunning part of the world. I'll definitely be heading back there!
